Throwing down some pictures!

These are just a few photos I took last night of the five polishes I got at Wal-mart on the 12th. There are three SinfulColors shades and two Pure Ice shades. I think I will start with the Pure Ice. :3

Pure Ice, Speechless (bottle)

First you will probably be noticing the bottle looks dark but the polish looks pretty bright, yeah? Well that is because the swatch is on a clear stick with a white background and the polish it's self is a very sheer jelly style polish. It's a very vibrant, beautiful color but I know I would have to tone it down somehow to have it look good on me, I will probably use it over a darker color in the future.

Pure Ice, Laven-dare (bottle)

So I love this color, not so much the way it applies.... Shown here is two coats on a swatch stick and you can clearly see it is still pretty streaky. The color is so pale I almost thought it was a pale-gray-off-white, but it is actually a very subtle purple-off-white. It reminds me more of faded Lilacs than Lavender but regardless it is gorgeous. I will be interested to see how it looks on my actual nails and if it will smooth out after adding a top coat as many super pale colors tend to in my experience.

On to Sinful Colors!

Wowza that's blinding. It's a lot less IN YO' FACE when you look at it in real life. My camera decided "Lets see if we can't blind people with this color!" Basically imagine the color pictured toned down a level, it's actually very pretty and while I don't see myself using it for full coverage it will be great for nail art!

SinfulColors, Mint Apple (bottle)

My camera needs a kick in the teeth. This color is much more pale in the real world. It's a gorgeous shimmery green color that I have been wanting for a while, finally found and HAD to buy. It applies pretty solid in two coats and is not streaky at all unless you actually have too little polish on the applicator brush. It's super SUPER pretty. Just sayin'.

SinfulColors, Rise & Shine (bottle)

This is a beautiful green leaning teal with a subtle shimmer. It's a pinch streaky in application but I'm sure that can be mastered by people with better technique then me. I really love this color because it is so bold and all around pretty. And I am not sure when I will use it first on myself but I want to use it in something awesome that does justice to the color.

Anyway, there they are. This post took me two days to finish thanks to interruptions form friends, then needing to sleep, and after that being lazy! xD

Happy painting! 8D

Combined Days 23+24: Inspired by a Book & Movie

So because I have fallen behind I combined days 23 and 24, my Harry Potter nails are inspired by books and movies! Yaay! I'm such a cheater.... ANYWAY.

I chose to do house colors on my fingers and A skull and snake on my thumb to represent the Death Eaters/Voldemort.To achieve this particular manicure I used 10 polishes. Plus top and base coats.  I wound up doing the design twice because I didn't like how the lines on the original house color nails turned out. I had hoped it would turn out more plaid but it didn't. Then I learned a new way to use my stamper to pick up the image and avoid smearing the polish on the plate. YAY! it made it so I am able to pick up my ACTUAL plaid stamp without it smearing all over it's self. So hurrah for do overs. Also the ring finger (Ravenclaw) had to be redone three times total because the first color I used for bronze came out WAY too orange. I will share all the different "finished" designs so you can see the evolution.

First off with the overly orange Ravenclaw ring finger:

Next we have the "fixed" ring finger but the wrong stripes:

And finally we have the PERFECT house colors! Except somehow I got a black speck on my index finger that was in my top coat's brush. Weird right? But at this point I am pretty much thinking "Redo? NOPENOPENOPE" Anyway here is the final Harry Potter paint job:

An all the colors used were:

Thumb: PureIce Black Out, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet
Index: KleanColor Metallic Yellow, KleanColor Metallic Red
Middle: Pure Ice Silver Star, China Glaze Agro,
Ring: KleanColor Metallic Mango(1st) Pure Ice Fast Lane (2nd), KleanColor Metallic Sapphire
Pinky: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, Pure Ice Black Out

So, there we have Days 23 and 24, Inspired by a Movie and Book!

Tomorrow I will be combining Fashion and Pattern! Once again I will be a sneaky cheater!

Day 21: Inspired by a Color

I chose (like a few other nail bloggers) to interpret this prompt as "inspired by a color name" as in the names ont eh bottom of polish bottles. I went with the color Silver Star, by Pure Ice. I did a base coat of darker silver, SinfulColors' Silver Screen, then stamped stars on my nails with PureIce's Silver Star polish. the stamp plates used were Mash 36 and Mash 49. The results:

I think it turned out GREAT. I was initially afraid the silvers would be too similar but they surprised me and contrasted JUST enough to make a very pretty silver star print.

How did you interpret today's prompt?

Day 4, Green

Messy as all heck but I was running out of time and patience.

After getting little to no sleep yesterday today I slept in way too late and when I woke up it was time to go out the door to help a friend so no time to paint.

Also my nails done been cut... cuz... they stoopid. One broke and other than my pinky nail I can't stand having uneven nails.... Weird right?

Anyway there they be, Day 4's Greens.

Base color is Sinful Colors HD Nails, crackle is Pure Ice Shattered.

Pure Ice Purchase.

Went to Wal-mart to return something and left the store with all of 7 cents left from my $5.37 refund.

I bought two Pure Ice polishes and one bottle of remover. The colors I got were "Saddle Me Up" and "Silver Star" here are the bottles:

 With Flash

Without Flash

I really "needed" another green, and I loved this shade in teh bottle and love it on my nails as well!

It isn't the most solid of colors, so I used two coats on my nails but here is a picture of the "very subtle" differences between 1 coat, 2 coats, and 3 coats.

These were taken with no top coat, and you can see the differences are fairly subtle but I liked the look of two coats best.

Tomorrow I may try Silver Star but for today I am enjoying the green.

And in other crackle news....

I know a lot of people are sick of crackle but I still love it sooo... here is my latest haul I got in the mail today:

The Bottles

The Bottles With Camera Flash

As you can see I got some Pure Ice crackles and an OPI Shatter. As far as I know the Pure Ice company doesn't make crackles any more so finding 8 bottles for 17 bucks (including shipping) was awesome considering I have heard so much good stuff about them in how they apply and work. The OPI Shatter is from the Nicki Minaj collection which is from 2012 if my research is correct. The Pure Ice crackles are from 2011.

The colors in the above pictures are: (from left to right)
OPI: Super Bass Shatter, Pure Ice: Jetsetter, Pure Ice: All Shooked Up, Pure Ice: Show Stopper, Pure Ice: Crushed, Pure Ice: Catwalk, Pure Ice: Shattered, Pure Ice: Flash, Pure Ice: Strobe Light

And here they all are on a white base coat (except Pure Ice: Flash which is on a black base coat for obvious reasons)

Now the Pure Ice went on great for the most part but some of the bottles had gloopy chunks on the brushes which I assume is due to the age of the polish I will try cleaning them out with a tooth pick if i run into any again. The OPI Worked like a dream. It's my first OPI polish so I wasn't sure what to expect but it is pretty much as great as everyone else says it is. It helps that I lovelovelove the color.

And once again I find myself stressed and chewing my fingers and finger nails to an extent... mostly the finger tips as the polishes I use have done wonders at keeping my teeth off my nails.

Happy Painting errybody!

Two Dollar Nail Polish...

At Wal-mart for about two dollars you can get a brand called Pure Ice. I haven't used it much but I have had four bottles for a couple months. Today we went to Wal-mart specifically to get a white polish, which no brand in mind. I just needed white polish.

We found out that they had done an overhaul of their nail polish section. Which is pretty great because our Wal-mart had a messy not very extensive nail polish section previously. While it was still disorganized (thanks to customers more than the people stocking the shelves) there is a much larger selection of the Pure Ice brand, Sally Hanson brand and a new (to our location) brand, the name of which I have already forgotten to my shame.

We wound up getting four Pure Ice colors and a Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "White On" for my white. Cost us a total of about 10 dollars give or take a bit.

Left to right the Pure Ice colors are "Sheer Luck," "New Lilac," "Outrageous," and "Fast Lane"

Mom asked me to paint her nails with the pink shade (Outrageous) and add a green clover stamp. After I do that I don't even know what I am gonna do with my own nails.
